  7. GENERAL 
  8. INFORMATION:   We have been working with a customer who is having problems 
  9.                running the new 3.01 DOS client shells on workstations using 
  10.                the Western Digital Ethercard and drivers.  We had him try a 
  11.                couple of versions of the NIC drivers.  The 2.11.3 version 
  12.                will loose connection when accessing a drive assigned to a 
  13.                false root.  The latest 3.05 version had even more problems 
  14.                and would not even allow false roots at all.  We have 
  15.                recommended to our customer to contact Western Digital about 
  16.                a fix in their next driver version.  In the meantime, he is 
  17.                going to an NE1000.

  19. COMMENTS:      In speaking with other techs on this subject, we have heard 
  20.                problems have also been reported with Gateway Ethernet and 
  21.                the 3C501, as well as the Thomas Conrad Arcnet cards.  
  22.                Thomas Conrad has a fix for their cards.
